Completed Projects

Accessibility Assessment – Oberlin Heritage Center, 2016

Researched best practices for accessibility in museum buildings and educational programs; assessed current OHC operations against those best practices; produced a written Accessibility Assessment that provided recommendations and a timeline for future improvements.

Library Inventory – Lakewood Historical Society, 2016-2017

Inventoried all library materials, noting condition and location; cross-checked inventory records with collections database; entered call numbers into sharable spreadsheet to increase access to library.

Recruiting and Training Collections Volunteers – Vermilion Area Archival Society, 2016-2017

Wrote volunteer job description used to recruit 7 new volunteers; trained volunteers in data entry using a collections management database; volunteers contributed approximately 85 hours of work by the end of June 2016.

Squarespace Website Design - Brownhelm Historical Association, 2016-2017

Set up and designed www.brownhelmhistory.org using Squarespace templates; assisted with uploading and maintaining content; linked website to Facebook and Constant Contact e-mail account; trained a BHA officer to manage website to ensure future sustainability.

Tour Research and Writing – Lorain Historical Society, 2017

Examined current tour script to determine pathways for research; conducted research in Lorain’s libraries and archives on family and local industrial history; drafted a new narrative tour script with discussion prompts for implementation with LHS docents

Program Evaluations and Audience Analysis – Cleveland Grays Armory Museum, 2017

Facilitated discussions about who constitutes the museum’s audience and how to reach them; consulted in the development of post-tour evaluations and how to collect and analyze data to develop the museum’s visitor experience

Development of Historical Council of Medina County – 2016

Consulted on the development of the Historical Council of Medina County, which brings 17+ historical organizations together to share resources and advocate for their interests; assisted with the planning and publicity for their signature county-wide event, now called Dandelion Drive, including designing the event logo in Canva.

Sponsorship Policy Development – Oberlin Heritage Center, 2015-2016

Researched best practices for seeking sponsorships; drafted a list of best practices to circulate to staff and board members; drafted museum’s Sponsorship Policy to guide implementation; consulted with Executive Director as first sponsorships were sought in 2016-17.

Docent Manual Creation – Brunswick Area Historical Society, 2015

Researched best practices for tour guide manuals; drafted policies and procedures for operating the museum and being an effective guide; edited previous tour script to increase story-telling opportunities.
